— Haliburton Sculpture Forest et al, —

What can I say,

I like art …

I like the outdoors …

The Sculpture Forest combines both for a very enjoyable afternoon

Haliburton Sculpture Forest

This sculpture park is located in Halliburton, Ontario,. With the sculptures placed along charming forest trails it is an ideal way to spend an afternoon while visiting the Kawartha Lakes.

Over the years this remarkable outdoor gallery has been created with the art work nestled along the winding trails. The collection features works by Canadian and International artists. Since the photos of the sculptures and one-of-a-kind benches illustrated here were taken, a dozen more works of art have been added. I’ll have to go back.

The Haliburton Sculpture Forest began as a project of the Arts Committee of the Haliburton County Development Corporation. Focusing on local economic development through the arts, the objective was to create a destination for residents, visitors and tourists while highlighting the visual arts in Haliburton County. This has been acheived, combining the beauty of the Haliburton forests with many works of art.

In 2004, a new campus for Fleming College, Haliburton School of Art + Design was created in Glebe Park, Haliburton. The Sculpture Forest surrounds the College and serves as a teaching site for many of the programs. In addition, the park is a great place for local residents and visitors to go for a walk.

Today, the Sculpture Forest is an ongoing initiative of Haliburton Sculpture Forest et al, a non-profit organization, whose mission is to bring together art, nature and people of all ages; creating a place for discovery, exploration, creative expression, and contemplation.
