‘Málaga, a martini of the sea’
— Rafael Pérez Estrada —
Nerja
Malaga Province
By the time wee got to Nerja it was late afternoon. I had been driving for quite a while so we picked the first hotel we saw, a swanky Parador on the beach.
After dinner we went down to wade in the Mediterranean, just to say we did it as the water was too cold for a swim.
Elaine contrived to get us wet anyway, taking the photo as the waves hit us.
The next day we visited the Nerja caves, something this town is famous for.
Málaga
The City
We flew in to Málaga from London to meet up with Elaine. The flight was late so the customs officer was grumpy. He growled at us then stamped our passports and sent us on our way.
It’s after midnight and the adventure starts with a non-existent hotel room. That wasn’t so bad, the young lady who was turfing us out was cute and she did find us a room just down the road.
El Torcal d’Antiquera
Granada Province
We went up into the mountains north of Málaga to El Torcal park and the protected EL Torcal Natural Area.
Known for it's unusual limestone rock formations, El Torcal is one of the most important karst landscapes in Europe. The Park's 17 square kilometres offer some of the most beautiful and impressive limestone landscapes in Europe.
