Dundee is called the ‘City of Discovery’

but was known as the city of ‘jute, jam and journalism’ in its industrial heyday.

— Scottish Field —

“To throw a shoe at a man in Dundee is the equivalent of a kiss on the cheek and an embrace in London, Dundee is a very different place; they have their own rules.

— Calvin Harris —

Dundee

We arrived in Dundee around suppertime memorable because it was the best fish and chips dinner ever.

We found our accommodations. Elaine complained about the accommodations. It was supposed to be a B & B, but the restaurant portion of the hotel was closed. This made us head into Dundee breakfast the next morning.

On arrival we walked along the waterfront where the Royal Research Ship Discovery is in dry dock next to the V & A. At low tide you can see the remains of the Tay Rrail Bridge which collapsed on 2812/1879.

Going for breakfast in the morning had us wandering the High Street we found that Dundee has a large collection of public art. Well worth the visit for the street art alone, on the streets of Dundee you can find everything from a dragon to characters that reflect the Dundee publishing industry … Desperate Dan, Dawg,  Hermione Makepeace and a bunch of OOR Wullies.
